Switzerland is big. Yes, I know, you might smile of amusement now. But actually what I was talking about is: Switzerland is big in a lot of things!
Best chocolate worldwide! Chocolate, often imitated and copied – never reached… you can find chocolate that doesn’t exist in the entire world than only inside the country. Fantastic, I’m telling you!!
(Even though I have to admit, some Belgian producers and See’s Candy get pretty close. *chuckle* but don’t tell anyone I said that, okay?)
Switzerland does produce without any doubt the best watches worldwide. I’m not only talking about luxury items like “Rolex”, “Tag Heuer”, “Breitling” and so on… Even others, “Omega”, “Rado”, Tissot” and “Mondaine” are fantastic quality watches! Great in looks and “hard to kill”. I do have a Mondaine watch which I got 21 years ago and it still works perfectly well!
Switzerland does produce the best variety of cheese worldwide. I know, everyone thinks Switzerland is a country of the “Emmentaler”:
But that’s just not true! Switzerland is also a country of the Tilsiter, the Greyerzer and the Appenzeller and so many others…
All excellent cheese kinds… extraordinary – better than anywhere else (even though the Appenzeller is a little stinky, but I heard some people like that… besides: Dutch cheese gets pretty close in quality and taste – and some French sorts as well… but that’s only said between us LOL)
Additionally Switzerland is big in mountains, of course!! Even though I don’t like to climb on them as some of you might already know, there are still some of the most famous and extraordinary mountains in Switzerland:, the Jungfraujoch, the Saentis and of course: The Matterhorn!!
There are in fact a lot of other things Switzerland is excellent in producing. Like solar systems, electronical parts, screen systems, chemical and physical science – amongst other things.
But there is something Switzerland is NOT big… (besides it’s physical size I mean)… I’m talking about cars!
There are German cars – excellent ones: Mercedes, BMW, Audi, only to name a few.
The Swedish Volvo: The English Aston Martin:
The Italian Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati
Of course: OMG – The U.S. produces some of my favorite cars! Cadillac, Chrysler, Dodge.
And what exactly does the global vehicle market get from Switzerland?
Exactly: The S M A R T
Is there anything more to say? *sigh*

I love your stories and the beautiful pictures! You haven’t posted in a couple days, have you? If so I missed seeing them.
Thank you very much. I’m happy you do like the posts and pictures. You’re right, I haven’t posted in a while. I usually do post when I think I’ve got something to say.
Thanks for stepping by and commeting!
Too funny, Raani, a windup car! pretty much like a watch! maybe it gets them to work in a ‘timely’ fashion! haha! I’d love to go to Switzerland someday, we never went when we lived in Germany. Deirdre
You know, depending on where in Germany you lived the trip to Switzerland could still be far.
I hope you will have the chance to see the country once.
As for the car… uhm… the smart would have a nice parking spot in an American parking spot and would not take more than a quarter of the available space. LOL
Raani,
Lovely post and great pictures. I also live the factthat that big litle country has always manageds to stay neutral in some of the most devasting wars we’ve had. I wish our country could manage that.
Hugs, Micki
I’m happy you like the blog post Micki.
Yes, Switzerland is a quite neutral country – which isn’t surprising considering the fact that it’s so small that taking sides would be quite dangerous.
Explaining this would take very much time and space here, but I’m sure you know what I mean. The political orientation of Switzerland was left out within this blog post since I do try to keep my personal opinion about this my private thing. It might be better.
Even more since I’m complaining too much already. LOL
LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!! Too funny!!!!!!!!!!! I was in Switzerland for a few days years ago and I loved it!
I’m happy to hear you liked it. It is a beautiful country and there’s much to like. Except the “Smart” of course. *grin*
Raani you always make me smile. Thanks for a delightful article. I didn’t know about all those swiss cheeses or even that the Smart Car is from Switzerland.
Hello, Thank you for stepping by and commenting. Those are only the most famous Swiss cheeses (hard cheeses actually) There are many many more, half-hard cheeses, soft cheeses and they’re all good.
As for the Smart – I’m not really sure if THAT’s something positive. *sigh*
Love the pictures. All of that wonderful cheese made me hungry.
LOL – Enjoy then. *grin*
Did you know that the quality A cheese is exported? Swiss people keep the quality B cheese for themselves. *chuckle*
I’m still back with the cheeses! I love cheese and Switzerland has so many wonderful cheeses to choose from–great post!
Thank you Sandra! I’m glad you like Swiss cheese as much as I do. Something we have in common. *grin*
Raani, this post is a delight! You made me hungry getting to the punch line.
Thank you. That’s a good sign. *grin*
I appreciate you stepping by and commenting. Thank you for the compliment as well. I’m happy you like the post.
The first mountains I ever saw was in Switzerland – The Matterhorn is awesome! I just would not advise ordering eggs! LOL:>) As usual, loved your post. . .you always know how to put in the perfect twist!
Thank you so much for commenting. I love your comments and I’m happy you liked the Matterhorn – and the blog post. LOL
Have you been in Switzerland recently?
Hanging out there right now.
Ahh now I got it. Definitely an attractive country. Enjoy.
I will – even though a country is always more attractive when you’re on vacation there than within the every day life. *grin*
I actually think the Smart car is adorable!
Fun post! I certainly learned some things about Switzerland. Thanks for educating me.
LOL – you’re welcome.
I think the Smart is something for Swiss car producers to seriously feel ashamed for. *sigh* – But probably everyone likes it because it can drive with a clockwork instead of an engine… ROFL
My husband and I spent several days in Interlachen, Switzerland, and had a marvelous time. The scenery is dramatic, the food was delicious, and the people were all friendly. I’d go back in a heartbeat! By the way, my husband bought me a Swiss watch in 1982 (Rolex) — thirty years ago! And it’s still running strong.
I’m glad you had a great time in Switzerland! And Swiss watches are manufactured for eternety! Switzerland is known for quality – and “Made in Switzerland” means: no matter what it is it’s quite great and “hard to kill” (unless is a chinese imitation of course and it says: “Made in Svyzzerland” ROFL
Sometimes I think: Don’t you agree if they were smart they’d set a “watch-life-limit” of 15 years? Compared to other products it would be still long term – and it would guarantee the customers get back and buy a new one. *chuckle*
Cute article Raani! So like the Swiss to invent the Smart Car, yes? So thoroughly efficient!
Thank you Jacqueline. – From what I hear the Smart is delayed in delivery to the U.S. since they had ordered so much… but still – I’m sorry – I don’t think THAT’s called a car!! That’s roller blades with a roof!
The good thing about it is: If you’re driving an SUV and you’re accidently running over a smart – just pick the passengers out of the engine, then throw the “car” into your trunk and at home throw it into the trash can.
*sigh*
Switzerland is by far the most beautiful country in Europe. I was awed by the beauty. And the chocolate’s not bad, either. St. Maritz, is it? Something like that.
Pretty close Carole. *grin* It’s St. Moritz. It is a beautiful country, you’re right! There are so many good things in Switzerland – just the Smart is poor. LOL
Thanks for commenting. I really appreciate it.
I love the smart car!!
Thanks for stepping by and commenting Jean. As you probably can see – I’m not the biggest Smart fan on earth. LOL – But that’s okay. To everyone his own taste!
Raani, Everybody has different tastes. All over the world!! That is what makes, the world go around.
I totally agree.
Lovely! I visited Switzerland once years ago, and now have a craving to go back…
August, I think, I would visit,Switzerland. Just for the chocolate. I love chocolate. (LOL)
Jean, in the meantime Swiss chocolate is sold all over the world – with a few exceptions… the BEST is still not available outside the country. LOL
Funny!!!
You know August, you should visit Switzerland! I’ll be here for the time being, just in case we won’t meet in California next time I’ll be there which should be October.
I would love to go to Switzerland, Raani. I love your pictures. I can just see myself there enjoying the scenery.
Cherrye – http://www.BooksThatSow.com
I’m happy you do like the pictures Cherrye. You should visit Switzerland. It’s a beautiful little country with so many advantages. The only “negative” is the Smart car. LOL
Thanks for stepping by and commenting!
Hi Raani, love the smart car and Switzerland (have flown over it, didn’t take long.) oh yeah and chocolate, hmm Swiss cheese, the list goes on. Talking about small cars, a joke going around about one of the first electric cars was: you could drive across Australia on $37.00 worth of electricity but the extension lead would cost about $2million. Back to Switzerland and the Alpine Horn, was on beat patrol in Fortitude Valley and came to a sudden stop, the sound of an alpine horn reverberated through the streets. The TV series William Tell came to mind immediately, I investigated the source and walked around into Brunswick street, there it was the business end of the horn and about two shops up the busker. Poor bloke didn’t have a permit to busk so I had to move him on, (kept wary eye out for sneaky crossbow bolts). Oh did I tell you, I love Swiss chocolate.
Cheers
Laurie.

LOOOOL Laurie – did I tell you I love your comments?? *grin* I read it – and re-read it – and I’m still giggling.
… as for the alpine horn – I saved that for an own blog post. LOL
And Mr. Tell as well… *a poem – oh my God – I accidently wrote a poem!*
Just kidding!
Thanks for stepping by Laurie – I always love your comments, they’re greatly appreciated!!
What a lot of work you put into this Raani! Nice work! I have had fine Belgium chocolate but the closet thing to Swiss was a Tobleron, so that doesn’t count. My one girlfriend said that when you eat the GOOD chocolate one piece does you. It is that good and satisfying. as for the other great things that come that beautiful country….very smart! Thanks for your informative and visually engaging post!
Hi Liz – it’s so good to have you back!!
I hope so much you’re fine – and to hear more often from you!
As for the Toblerone (uhm… it is actually Swiss) *chuckle* – The triangle of the chocolate symbolizes the mountain peaks.
As for your one girlfriend: if she’s able to only eat ONE piece – I’m afraid she never had a good bar of chocolate right in front of her. LOL
I’m happy you do like the blog post Liz!! Again: It’s good to have you back – I always love your comments!!!
Hi Raani,
You are so right! The best cheese comes from Switzerland and I have not found any cheese that equals up to it. The same with chocolates! There is something about swiss chocolates that just melt in your mouth. Switzerland is such a small country, but it is so beautiful. I enjoyed seeing the pictures and reminiscing, because I have made many trips this small country. Thank you also for the humour that you brought into your article. There were parts where I chuckled at the way you indicated something (you know what I mean) without spelling it out for us.
Love you Raani. This was nice !!!!!!!
Ciao,
Patricia
Hi Patricia,
I chuckled as well when reading your comment. Thank you very much!! What a fine tuned eye you have when you found the indicated “something”. LOL
Thank you so much for your time and effort to read and comment. I’m happy you liked it in Switzerland.
I do too… sometimes. *grin*
Sending you a BIG HUG
love
Raani

Thank you so much Sunni for this honor!! I’m very flattered and I appreciate your nomination very much!
Raani,
I loved Switzerland just as much. Walking through the streets to smell those pastries and fresh smells alongthe sidewalks. Oh, and the chocolate-NO way could See get even close. Sorry but the chocolates there are heavenly. I bought Doug a Tissot and it still keeps on ticking years later. Your are such a wonderful writer and I love the photos.
I’m hpayy to hear you loved Switzerland! I do agree, they definitely have the best chocolate – and watches of course!
Thank you for stepping by, loving the post and the pictures!!
